Privacy policy

Published under section 8.2 of the Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Québec)

AlloCause Inc. is a video production company in Québec. This policy explains what we do with personal information, in plain terms.

What we collect

• What you send us. If you fill in the contact form or email us, we receive your name, your email address and whatever you tell us about your project.
• Basic website information. Our web host records ordinary server logs when you visit, including IP address, in the normal course of serving the site.
• Production material. On a project, we handle footage, photographs and recordings that may contain images and voices of identifiable people, including yours.

What we do with it

• To answer your enquiry and, if we work together, to run the project.
• To meet our tax, accounting and contractual obligations.

We do not sell personal information. We do not use it for advertising or profiling.

Footage of people

Where a production records identifiable people, we obtain a release before that footage is published. If you appear in something we made and want to discuss its use, write to the person named above.

Who else handles it, and where

Some of the information above is handled outside Québec. Québec law requires us to say so plainly.

• Our web host, Hostinger International Ltd., Lithuania, serves this website.
• Our email provider, Google Workspace, operated by Google LLC, United States, carries our correspondence.
• Our form handler, Web3Forms, delivers contact form submissions to us.
• Cloud storage and delivery, Google Drive, operated by Google LLC, United States, where project files are stored and shared.

Before communicating personal information outside Québec, we assess whether it will receive adequate protection, as section 17 of the Act requires.

Cookies and fonts

This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies. It loads typefaces from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google and Google receives your IP address. If we add analytics later, this policy will say so and we will ask for consent where required.

How long we keep it

• Enquiries that do not become projects: two years, then deleted.
• Project records and production material: for the term of the contract and afterwards for the period our tax and legal obligations require.

Your rights

You may ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy, correct anything inaccurate, delete information we no longer have a reason to keep, withdraw consent where we rely on it, or give you your information in a structured, commonly used technological format where the law provides for it.

Write to the person named above. We answer within thirty days, at no charge.

If our answer does not satisfy you, you may complain to the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.

If something goes wrong

If a confidentiality incident occurs and it presents a risk of serious injury, we notify the Commission d'accès à l'information and the people concerned promptly, and we keep a register of incidents as the law requires.

Changes

Any change is posted on this page with a new effective date.

The films, photographs, writing, design and marks on this site belong to AlloCause Inc. or to our clients, and are protected by copyright. Do not copy, reproduce or republish them without written permission. Client logos appear with permission to identify work we have done and imply no endorsement of anything else.

Getting in touch

Sending us an enquiry does not create a contract. Work begins when both sides sign an agreement setting out scope, schedule and fee.

We link to sites we do not control, including vireoedit.com. We are not responsible for their content.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from your use of this website. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for bodily or moral injury, for gross or intentional fault under article 1474 of the Civil Code of Québec, and any liability a merchant may not exclude under the Consumer Protection Act.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws in force in the Province of Québec and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. The courts of the judicial district of Joliette, Québec, have jurisdiction.

Language

This page is published in French and in English. The French version prevails. Les parties reconnaissent avoir exigé que ce document soit rédigé en français et en anglais.
